2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo Goes On Sale in India
The 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo and Turbo Executive are now on sale in India at Rs 1.93 crore and Rs 2.06 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The Porsche Panamera Turbo Executive is essentially the stretched version of the sedan based on 150mm longer wheelbase. This makes it more spacious especially for the rear occupants. The new-gen Panamera Turbo receives significant design updates enhancing its sporty appearance along with a pack of new features.
Interior, too, has gone through some major changes in terms of both design and features. It’s new Porsche Advanced Cockpit with configurable LED displays and smartphone-like user interfaces add more to its convenience levels. There is a 12.3-inch touchscreen Porsche Communication Management supporting several new digital functions and online services.
The car also offers a fully integrated infotainment system with removable displays, fitted to the front seats’ headrest, for the rear seats occupants. This system is compatible to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM), and offers access to navigation system, media and radio. It also supports several other functions.
On safety front, the 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo gets lane change assist with turn assist, adaptive cruise control, Park Assist (surround view and reversing camera) and Lane Keeping Assist (cornering notification and traffic sign recognition).
With an aim to achieve better handling, Porsche equips the 2017 Panamera Turbo with several drive control systems such as Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology, 4D chassis control system, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control System with Torque Vectoring Plus and rear axle steering.
Coming to the engine, the 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo sources its power from a 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine paired to a new 8-speed PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung) gearbox. This motor can do 0-100kmph in 3.8 seconds. The power figure stands at 543bhp, while making 770Nm of torque. Its mileage figure stands at 10.6kmpl, which slightly less than the previous model.
Similar to the 918 Boxster, the new Panamera Turbo offers four driving modes – Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. Interestingly, the car’s MSB platform has been especially designed for rear wheel drive (RWD) and front-engine layout.
