2017 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Gets BS4 Engine
The 2017 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 has received BS IV compliant engine and the AHO (automatic headlamp on) as part of the mandatory feature on the two wheelers. The model is now available for retail across authorized RE dealerships in India at a slightly higher price. Bookings for the BS IV compliant version were already open much before it reached dealerships. The company has showcased the Europe-bound, Euro 4 compliant bikes at last year’s EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan.
The bike continues using the same 346cc, single cylinder, twinspark, air-cooled engine that has now been tweaked to comply with the BS IV emission standards. For transmitting power to wheels, it uses the conventional five-speed manual unit. The engine on the carburetted bike can be cracked up either with a kick or through the electric starter. Additionally, the bike comes with 41mm telescopic front forks and twin gas charged shock absorbers with 5-step adjustable preload rear suspension set-up. Stopping power is derived from the 280mm disc units with two piston calliper at front and 240mm unit with single piston calliper at rear.

2017 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Design
Carrying the Royal Enfield DNA, the Thunderbird 350 gets all the key design and styling elements on par with other bikes in the line-up. In tandem with its cruise stance, the seat has been placed low, while the handlebar is set high. The large seat provides comfortable space for both rider and pillion; however the design appears a tad dated. The sculpted tank and upright riding position add to it retro styling. Use of chrome around the body adds bulk to the prowess, thankfully, it doesn’t appear overdone. This in turn diverts attention to the other parts of the bike. It rides on the 90/90-19 MRF front and 120/80-18 62P MRF tyres shod with traditional multiple-spoke alloy wheels from RE bikes. One area where the bike scores high is the fit, finish and quality.
