Bajaj Avenger 400 Launching Soon; To Rival Royal Enfield Himalayan
Bajaj Auto that recently updated its popular Pulsar and Avenger cruiser range, will soon expand both the lineups with new models. Speaking to MoneyControl, Rajiv Bajaj, Bajaj Auto’s Managing Director said, “There is going to be action in the existing brands. There will be lots of action this year and next. So definitely the Pulsar and Avenger brands are very important for us and there will be more attention there to increase the business of both the brands”. He also confirmed that the new models will hit showrooms in the coming months. However, he didn’t reveal the product names and details. Speculations on rife that Bajaj might introduced the bigger capacity Bajaj Avenger 400 and Pulsar SS400 in India.
Bajaj Auto will venture into the midsize motorcycle segment with a new adventure-tourer category. One of the largest exporters and manufacturers of motorbikes from India, Bajaj Auto–KTM alliance once again comes in play to woo Indian bike enthusiasts. The basic intent behind this move is to challenge Royal Enfield’s 411cc RE Himalayan. A lot many industry sources have confirmed the development of a completely new motorcycle platform which will be an adventure touring model. The home-grown bikemaker is developing the new models with two engine options: a single-cylinder 375cc mill and a 200cc power mill which is currently empowering several other KTM motorbikes.
While the 200cc bike will come under KTM moniker, the 375cc adventure tourer will join Bajaj’s Avenger lineup. Called the Bajaj Avenger 400, this motorcycle will be the fourth addition to Bajaj’s new cruiser lineup that includes Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220. Powering the all-new Avenger 400 could be the ones that are being manufactured locally by the company in Pune. With additional power a nd superb cruising capabilities, the new Bajaj Avenger 400cc model will appeal buyers who otherwise go for Royal Enfield Himalayan.

Bajaj Auto has confirmed that the new Avenger model will soon join the cruiser lineup. Although, the product name and details are still under the wraps. Reports suggest that it will be a high capacity version with a 375cc engine. So, there is a possibility the company might introduce the Avenger 400 with the coming months.

Bajaj auto holds a reputation for bringing in innovative products that are pioneers of their own niche territory. And the best thing is that they are available across an affordable price range. The biggest proof of this fact was presented by Pulsar RS 200 and 150cc Avenger in recent years. The new Bajaj Avenger 400 price is expected to be around Rs. 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Bajaj-KTM team plans to take on the Royal Enfield Himalayan with the KTM 390 Adventure. The target consumer base for this product might be the creamy layer initially. But speculations suggest that it may bring forth a 375cc iteration of the same to take an edge over its close rival. At the heart of the Bajaj Avenger 400 will be the same 375cc, single-cylinder engine that does duty on the KTM Duke 390. This motor dishes out a top power output of 43bhp at 9,000rpm and a maximum torque of 35Nm at 7,000rpm. Transmission duties will be carried out by a 6-speed manual gearbox.
