Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol Likely To Launch During Festive Season
Maruti Vitara Brezza has turned out to be a huge success for the Indo-Japanese carmaker in India. Till January 2017, Maruti had received over 2 lakh bookings for the compact SUV. The vehicle currently commands a waiting period of over 6-8 months, despite production unit runs at full pace. What’s interesting is that Maruti offers the Brezza in the diesel version only. Seeing the growing demand for petrol vehicles, the Indo-Japanese maker is now planning to launch the petrol iteration of the vehicle in the country. The Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol could be launched towards the end of this year, possibly around Diwali.
The petrol version of the Brezza is likely to be powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine that also powers the Baleno RS. The company could also fit the 1.2-litre engine that is good for 83bhp and 110Nm of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. As a reminder, the diesel version of the SUV is propelled by a 1.3-litre MJD unit that is good for 89bhp. This smaller capacity engine is expected to be highly fuel efficient. The Baleno RS is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 21.1kmpl. The Brezza petrol is expected to deliver close to 20kmpl.
