Minimum Rs 7 lakh
Maximum Rs 10 lakh

Available with two engine options, the current generation Ertiga comes in the price range of Rs 6.03 lakh – Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). New Maruti Ertiga 2018 Exterior

While the current model of the MPV is built on the extended version of the Swift platform, the new-gen Ertiga will use Suzuki’s new HEARTECT platform. The latter one also underpins the new-gen Dzire and Baleno. This fifth-generation Heartect platform uses high tensile steel that not only makes it lighter, but help it enhance efficiency and safety quotient of the vehicle. Face of the car could be revised with projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, hexagonal mesh-grille and restyled bumper. Save for the new alloy wheels, ORVMs and door handles, the side profile will look largely similar to the current model.

New Maruti Ertiga 2018 Specifications

Specifications Ertiga 2018
Petrol 1.4L, 1.0L Boosterjet or 1.5-litre
Diesel 1.3-litre MJD or Suzuki’s 1.5-litre

Under the hood, the 2018 Maruti Ertiga MPV might retain the existing engine setup. The petrol variant of the current model features a 1.4-litre unit pushing out 94bhp of power and 130Nm of torque. The diesel version uses the tried and tested 1.3L MJD + SHVS unit generating a peak power of 89bhp and 200NM of torque. Rumour also has it that the MPV’s new-gen model might debut with 1.5-litre diesel. This powertrain could also be used in the Ciaz facelift. However, nothing concrete on the same has been revealed.

Speculations also suggest that Maruti could opt for more powerful petrol engine. Instead of the existing 1.4L unit, the 2018 Maruti Ertiga could feature Suzuki’s new 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine that also powers the Baleno. This powertrain is good enough for 100.5bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Few media reports suggest that Maruti could also fit the new 1.5-litre petrol engine in the Ertiga.

New Maruti Ertiga 2018 Mileage

Petrol (Estimated) 20kmpl
Diesel (Estimated) 25kmpl

The new Maruti Ertiga 2018 will be lighter and more fuel efficient than the current car, thanks to the Suzuki’s new generation platform.

New Maruti Ertiga 2018 Comfort

The latest spy shots reveal that the 2018 Maruti Ertiga could be bigger than the current model. Designed on the Heartect platform, the new-gen model is likely to have more cabin space to offer. Maruti might also address the third row legroom issue of the current model. The flat seat and a near-flat floor body will comfort the centre passenger. Features such as 2 DIN MP3 audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, second row seat armrest, touchscreen audio with navigation, second row AC,  and steering mounted audio and calling control will add more to its comfort and convenience levels.

New Maruti Ertiga 2018 Practicality

Ertiga is one of the well-packaged cars in its segment. With 7-seats layout, the car offers enough space for first and second row seats passengers. The bigger proportions will create more legroom for the third row occupants, which is slightly congested in the current model.

New Maruti Ertiga 2018 Safety

Aiming to improve safety quotient of the MPV, Maruti might offer dual airbags and ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) as standard on the carline. Currently, these features are available only on the top-end model of the car. It will continue to feature rear parking sensor and camera, seat belt reminder with buzzer and height adjustable front seat belts with pre-tensioner and force limiter.

Should You Wait For It?

The Ertiga is one of the top-selling utility vehicles from the Indo-Japanese carmaker in India. The MPV’s new model will surely be a lot better product than the current generation. It will carry an all-new design with bigger proportions. Interior is likely to be more spacious and feature-loaded than the existing one. Material quality, fit and finish could also be improved.
