With this saloon, Honda will aim at existing City sedan buyers looking for an upgrade as the former is already four year old. First unveiled in 2015, the 10th generation Civic will be locally assembled in India that will help the maker to achieve aggressive pricing. The updated model has already been spotted testing in global markets, revealing design changes. Powering the sedan will be a locally produced 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, which will also power the new Honda HRV premium SUV and the new 7-seater CRV SUV.
Though, the power output will be different for all three models. Japanese automaker has already started manufacturing and export of this new engine at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. On the other side, the petrol engine will be a 1.8-litre i-VTEC engine that also powers the previous model. Transmission duties will be carried out by a 6-speed manual and CVT automatic. The Honda Civic was one of the most popular Honda brands in India. Owing to its slow sales, the Japanese maker had discontinued the sedan in 2013.
