Range Rover Velar Makes World Debut; India Launch This Year
The all-new 2018 Range Rover Velar SUV has made its official debut at the 87th Geneva Auto Show. The Velar is the fourth member of the Range Rover family, the last one was the original Range Rover in 1970. The name ‘Velar’ is derived from the Latin word ‘velaris’, which means “to cover or veil”. In terms of size and price, the new Land Rover SUV fits between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport. While the Velar will be rolled out in UK this summer (June-August 2017), it will arrive at the Indian shores in the second half of 2017.
Production hub for the Range Rover Velar will be the manufacturer’s Solihull-based plant in UK. In India, the SUV will come in Completely Build Units form. Designed on the Jaguar F-Pace’s IQ all-aluminium platform, the new Velar caline will be spread across three trim levels – S, SE and HSE. Touted as Land Rover’s de-facto coupe model, this SUV will be as practical and spacious as the Jaguar F-Pace and Porsche Macan. The Velar isn’t only the youngest Range Rover in the line-up, but the most stunning and advanced one as well.
