Renault Kaptur India Launch in October 2017
Renault Kaptur will be the next model from French carmaker to join its SUV line-up in India. Gearing up for festive season launch this year, Kaptur will sit above Duster and will share underpinning with it. While the name ‘Kaptur’ seems similar to Renault’s international model Captur, the two hardly have anything in common. Renault lately revealed the global model, while it hasn’t officially revealed any detail about the India bound Kaptur. In India, the SUV will be manufactured at Renault-Nissan’s manufacturing unit in Chennai, implicating heavy localisation which will help pricing Kaptur competitively.
Besides, Renault Kaptur will use the same MO platform that underpins Renault Duster which will further aide cost cutting. It is expected that chassis will receive subtle tweaks, which means both the models will have almost similar proportions with insignificant difference. Styling cues will be inspired by Clio-based Captur, sold in international markets. Renault will add new elements to make it more upmarket and chic compared to Duster.
Inside the cabin, Kaptur is likely to get five-seat layout unlike rivals in the segment that are available with seven seat configuration. And it will receive several connectivity features such as the MEDIA NAV system with 7-inch touch screen display among others. Upon its launch, the SUV will take on the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Hexa, Hyundai Creta and Honda BR-V.
