The recent sighting of the mid-size SUV infers that Skoda is planning the launch in the coming months. Skoda has not made any official announcement about the launch, but it is suggested that Kodiaq will come to India sometime this year. The SUV segment is currently the hottest segment in India and sudden influx of new models testifies the immense growth in this space. What makes it a potential product is the seven seat layout and the lucrative pricing that is estimated to start from Rs 28 lakh. Skoda will assemble the vehicle at its facility in Aurangabad which will help curb pricing. Now in visual terms, the SUV will be contemporary with boastful proportions and key elements enhancing the exterior profile. In front, it will get butterfly grille and two-tier headlamps, while rear will come with LED tail-lamp units. On the inside, it will match up with the resplendent exterior, sporting chic styling and host of connectivity features such as Skoda Connect touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
For the Indian market, Skoda will use variety of engines in petrol and diesel variants. There will be a 177bhp 2.0-litre petrol and 187bhp, 2.0-litre TDI unit. Reports in media suggest that it will also get a 147bhp, 2.0-litre oil burner; but we believe this engine may not make to India. The 7-speed DSG unit will be standard on the carline supported by the AWD system.
