SWM Motorcycles To Enter India; SuperDual Will Be First To Arrive
Kinetic Group and Norton Motorcycles recently entered into a JV, under which the British bikemaker will sell and manufacture its products in the Indian market. Besides India, the company will assemble Norton bikes for other South East Asian markets as well. According to a latest carandbike report, the SWM SuperDual adventure motorcycle will also be retailed via MotoRoyale outlets. Talking to the media publication, the Kinetic Group Managing Director Ajinkya Firodia said, “We intend to price the SWM SuperDual under ₹ 6 lakh, and have a lot of expectations from the SuperDual. We are almost ready to launch the SWM SuperDual, and it will be launched within the next 3-4 months. SWM Motorcycles is an Italian brand that commenced its operations back in 1971 with Motocross, Enduro and off road bikes. With its liquidation in 1984, the company closed down its all operations. However, the Milan-based firm breathed a new life with funding from China-based Shineray Group in 2014. The SWM SuperDual adventure bike shares its engine and chassis with the old Husqvarna TE610 enduro.
Based on the tubular steel chassis and the aluminium swingarm, SWM’s bike comes with a pack of high-quality components such as LED headlamps, Sachs shock, Fast Ace forks, Brembo calipers and an optional hard luagge. The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 18-litres. It features long travel suspension, and stands on a high ground clearance. The SuperDual carries a dry weight of 186kg. All these features will enhance the touring and adventure capabilities of the bike.
Standing on a high ground clearance (180mm), the bike measures 2240mm in length, 905mm in width and 1240mm in height. In India, the SWM SuperDual will be brought through the CKD (completely knocked down) route, and assembled locally at MotoRoyale’s facility.
