Tata Tigor Engine Details & Features Revealed
Tata Tigor, the much-awaited sub-compact sedan from the home-grown carmaker, is all set to hit showrooms on 29th March 2017. This will be the third Tata product to be based on the brand’s IMPACT design philosophy, and second major launch of the year. Touted as India’s first ‘Styleback’, the Tata Tigor will face head-to-head challenge from Maruti Swift Dizre, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and Hyundai Xcent. While the launch is few days away, the company is conducting media drive for the Tigor in Delhi. During the event, the carmaker has revealed the engine specifications and features details of the vehicle.
Tata has confirmed that its all-new compact sedan will come with a 1.2L Revotron petrol and a 1.05L Revotorq diesel engine options, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both the powertrains have been carried forward from the Tiago hatchback. Besides the engines, the Tigor also shares its platform and design cues with the hatchback. Interestingly, the compact sedan is 246mm longer, 30mm wider and 2mm taller than the sibling hatchback. Surprisingly, the company has also raised the wheelbase by up to 50mm which will contribute to its spacious cabin.
Taking that into account, the carmaker is promoting the Tigor as India’s first ‘Styleback’, and secondly the aggressive pricing brings it on par with other models from different segments with a similar pricing. Tata chalked out a similar plan for Tiago and it worked well for it, while we still have to see if it does any good to Hexa.
