Tata’s Tamo Racemo Sportscar To Debut At 2018 Auto Expo
2018 Auto Expo is going to bigger, better and more exciting. Why so? Tata Motors that has some really capable products to unveil at the Expo, will also bring in its first ever sportscar – TaMo RaceMo. Yes, the sportscar will make its India debut at the brand’s ‘Performance Zone’. For people not in the know, Tata Motors shelved the Racemo’s production plan due to its high production cost. It had certainly broke million of Indian hearts that were waiting for the vehicle. Well, the company has changed its plan and now decided to showcase it for its Indian fans. Touted to be the first model under Tata’s sub-brand TaMo, the mid-engined sports coupe is a crucial product for Tata, as the company will debut its highly ambitious sub-brand TaMo with the RaceMo.
The Tamo RaceMo was first previewed at the 87th Geneva Motor Show that plays host to some of most enticing concept models and supercars globally. Appreciated for its sporty design, the Racemo crowed with the German Design Award (GDA) in the Gold category for International Excellence in ‘Exceptional Product Design’ in October, 2018. Besides, Tata’s Tamo RaceMo would be India’s first connected car with advanced in-cabin connectivity features developed by Microsoft India. The sports-car will receive an advanced navigation, predictive maintenance, remote monitoring and over-the-air updates built on Microsoft’s cloud-based technologies. There will be three screens in the instrument area to connect with these technologies.

Tata Tamo Racemo Launch Date
Tata Motors teased the sports-coupe at the introduction of its sub-brand, TaMo in February 2017, which was followed by its global debut at the 87th Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. Now, the home-grown carmaker will unveil the two-seat mid-engined sportscar at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The vehicle will be put up on display at the company’s ‘Performance Zone’.

As of now, there is no information whether the sports coupe will make its way to production or not. So, it would be quite early to comment on its pricing. Even if, the Racemo enters production and launched in India, we expect to be priced aggressively. It could be the most affordable sports coupe in India with the prices estimated to fall between Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.

Tata’s global product under its sub-brand TaMo is essentially a two-seat, mid-engined, sports coupe that measures less than four meters. The vehicle will use Tata’s 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron aluminium engine with intercooler for generating power. This low capacity engine has been tuned to produce a maximum power output of 186bhp at 6,500rpm against 210Nm of torque at 2,500rpm. Making use of a special body fitted with Tata’s MOFlex multi-material sandwich structure, RaceMo carries light weight and is claimed to achieve 0 to 100kmph mark within six seconds.
Tata Tamo Racemo Design
Sporting race-car resembling styling elements, the two-seat, mid-engined sports coupe is designed at Tata Motors’ Italy based studio. It also takes some styling bits from Tata’s IMPACT design language, seen on Tata’s new breed of cars. The Tamo RaceMo is a light weight sports coupe built on the patented MOFlex Multi-Material Sandwich structure. This platform not only allows efficient large-scale part integration, but provides great liberty in terms of surface design as well.
Tamo Racemo Interior
Claimed to be world’s first ‘phygital’ car, the mid-engined sports car will combine assertive looks and new-age digitized features, co-developed by Tata and its strategic partner Microsoft India. To name a few tech, expected on the RaceMo, the car will get cloud computing, analystics, geo-spatial & mapping and increased human-machine interface. Tata will pack a host of safety provisions including disc units with ABS and EBS, dual front airbags and three-point seat belt with optional four-point harness etc. The vehicle will equip 205/50 R17 tubeless front tyres and 235/45 R18 radial rear tyres and will get an all-round independent double wishbone suspension set up.
