Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid To Unveil At Delhi Auto Expo 2018
Hyundai, the South Korean automaker will launch 8 all-new products in the Indian market by 2020. Out of eight, three will be all-new cars while the rest will be new generation models of existing products. The company will unveil the new Hyundai Ioniq hybrid in the country at the Auto Expo 2018, confirmed Hyundai MD & CEO, Y K Koo. And its launch will take place by mid 2018. The Ioniq will be the first fully-hybrid Hyundai car in the Indian market that will go against the Toyota Prius.
Carmakers like Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra have products with mild-hybrid systems, while Toyota & BMW are selling proper hybrid vehicles in India. Volkswagen will also launch its first hybrid car – Passat GTE this year. The Indian Government’s schemes like FAME and NEMMP have surely encouraged carmakers to bring in alternative fuel-run vehicles, and as result we are seeing a slow yet steady growth in hybrid and electric vehicle segments. These vehicles attract lower excise duty besides other incentives being offered to promote ‘green’ vehicles.
