Xiaomi’s Mijia brand has launched the ’90 Minutes Ultra Smart’ running shoes in its home market of China. The smart running shoes come equipped with Intel’s Curie chip, which is about a size of a button. The chipset is capable of tracking fitness data in real time. Xiaomi has developed the smart shoes in partnership with Shanghai Runmi Technology Co. Ltd. Xiaomi launches smart running shoes powered by Intel.

Xiaomi says that the 90 Minutes Ultra Smart shoes are designed for professional athletes. The shoes utilise a foam-like material on the body, which cushions the effect of the runner’s foot hitting the ground. The shoes have the ability to detect movement and store data like distance covered, speed, calories burnt etc.

The Intel chipset inside Xiaomi shoes function for up to 60 days without the need for a charge. The processor can detect when the user is running, walking or climbing as well. The shoes are anti-skid, feature arch support, air cushions and an antibacterial removable insole.

The Xiaomi 90 Minutes Ultra Smart shoes come with a RMB 299 (~Rs 2,900) price tag. The company is crowd-funding the smart running shoes Mi Home in China.
